Basketball modelled procedurally using Houdini Fx and rendered in Redshift3D. The lines of the basketball pattern and created by ray casting, and the bumps using point scattering. These two techniques can then be applied to create the pattern on tennis/volleyballs, and also the grooves in gold balls. Procedural modelling in theory allows for infinite resolution.
